So You Wanna Be A Writer

In this first bolt of mine I have learned to set aside about one hour a day to just write 'crappy first drafts'. This provides challenges with time management but I believe it is good to do in order to get my creativity going. There is no guideline for what we are to write. Later there might be but for this first week we are just supposed to sit and write whatever story comes to mind. I found it to be difficult at first because there are no guidelines whatsoever, but as time went on I discovered I just needed to find a little bit of motivation. Either through something that's happened in my life, a quote, or even a piece of artwork. Once we finish our story we sat down to write, we pick a few lines that we want to share with the others in the bolt and anyone else is allowed to comment on them. I believe this bolt will help me improve my writing skills dramatically in just a 3 week course.
